Being vs. Doing

This morning's sermon notes, because I thought they were most excellent:

It isn't a matter of doing... it's a matter of be-ing

He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

What does God require of us?
To act justly

-to make sure all people are treated right
-to make sure those who have no voice are heard
-How can I live my life more justly today?
To love mercy

-Before I can truly be merciful, I need to recognize my need for mercy
-For all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23)
-God has shown us mercy through His Son
-As mercy has been shown to me, so am I to show mercy to others
To walk humbly with our God

-There are times when we act as though we are fine on our own
-But when it is all about me, sin has taken root
-I need help, I need God and you... we need each other
